In the process of obtaining a residence permit for a self-employed person, you will need the following documents (section 4 of the application):

• A completed application form
• A valid passport. It is important to remember that by the time you receive MVV to enter the country, its validity should be at least six months. And taking into account the length of the procedure, it is better that the passport should be valid for at least another year at the time of application.
• Proof of income (salary certificate, pay slips, etc.)
• Documents confirming the availability of necessary permits for a certain type of activity
• Business plan and data on the expected investments
• Diplomas and certificates of education
• Documents confirming that the product or service is innovative for the Netherlands (patents, recommendations of professional institutions, etc.).
• Employment history. They may differ depending on what the applicant was doing before submitting the application: for a salaried employee it will be an employment contract, for a freelancer - copies of agreements with customers, etc.
• Data on turnover on the Dutch market
• Income declaration of a self-employed person
• Declaration of a foreign citizen (Antecedents Certificate) - it contains information about criminal convictions.
• Statement in connection with the European sanctions against Russia and Belarus (if you are a citizen of these countries).

All documents should be collected before visiting the embassy, legalized and translated into Dutch, English, French or German. The application fee is $350.

Step-by-step guide to get Netherlands Digital Nomad Visa

1. Make an appointment at the Netherlands embassy.
2. Fill out the application form and all the attachments mentioned in it. The form lists the documents that will be required for the application.
3. Visit the embassy at the appointed time, taking your passport, completed application and 35 x 45 mm photographs.
4. The embassy officer will register the application in the system, date stamp it and personal V-number and then return the documents with confirmation. The embassy will also accept the applicant's biometric data. A signature and fingerprints will be required to obtain the MVV.
5. The application fee must be paid within 3 weeks from the date on the application form. It is $350 for the initial application as a self-employed person. The payment details are on the application form. The application will not be processed until the fee is received in full.
6. In the same period of time the application with all documents and confirmation letter should be sent to the Netherlands Immigration and Naturalization Service (IND) by mail, the address is specified in the application form. The application is considered within 90 days, in some cases this period can be extended for 6 months. You can track your application through the online service "My IND" after you have registered.
7. Receive an official decision by mail or e-mail if agreed to in the application. If the MVV and residence permit are denied, you can file an objection.
8. In case of a favorable decision, you will need to visit the embassy to receive the MVV by making an appointment in advance. The MVV must be valid for at least 6 months before an embassy officer can enter it into your passport.
9. The MVV is valid for 90 days, so you must enter the Netherlands and find temporary or permanent accommodation before the end of this period.
10. Register in the resident database (BRP) and get a citizen number (BSN).
11. With a citizen number you can now open a self-employment. For this you need to fill and print the form, make an appointment in KvK and take the form to one of the offices.
12. Bring the missing documents to the IND office.
13. When the IND is ready, you will be notified by mail and "My IND". You can make an appointment to get a residence permit here.
14. Visit the IND and receive your residence permit card.
