Documents for Montenegro Digital Nomad Visa
It is only possible to apply for a remote worker visa within the country. Article 43 of the Law on Foreigners specifies the general package of documents required to obtain a residence permit in Montenegro. Additional documents for nomad are specified in the new amendments:
- Cover letter
- A passport with validity period not less than the planned term of residence permit
- White cardboard (tourist registration)
- Certificate of no criminal record not older than 6 months
- Work contract, concluded at least three months prior to application, which clearly indicates a monthly salary of at least €1350
- Original extract from the register of legal entities where your employer or your company is registered
- A bank statement for the last three months proving the income from the labor contract
- Notarized rental agreement for an apartment in Montenegro of 1 year or more
- Valid health insurance for 30 days
- A document confirming the existence of compulsory health insurance and pension insurance at the place of registration of the employer
Montenegro does not accept electronic and digitally signed documents. All submitted documents must be wet stamped and signed by a responsible person.
Step-by-step guide to get Montenegro Digital Nomad Visa
Applications for Digital Nomad residence permit are submitted in person inside Montenegro to the police department of internal affairs (MUP) of a particular city. All documents must be translated into Montenegrin by a court interpreter (list).
- Fly to Montenegro and register at the tourist organization of your place of stay or municipality (opshtina)
- Go to the MUP (it is better to go to Kotor or Herceg Novi)
- Submit a package of documents and a personal application and submit biometrics.
- After that, the inspector gives the applicant a receipt (potvrda) with the date when you can receive the decision on the issuance of the residence permit. The decision should be issued no longer than 40 days (Article 62). The state duty is €67. You can pay it at any post office or bank.
