The list of documents for remote workers and for freelancers is almost identical. All of them must be translated into English:
- A copy of all passport pages. It must be valid for at least 14 months, with at least six blank pages.
- Resume.
- Diploma of higher education.
- Bank statement for the last three months.
- Income statement for the last three months.
- A valid employment contract for a period of three months or more - for remote workers, a contract for project work for a period of three months or more - for freelancers.
- Criminal record certificate issued in the country of citizenship or residence.

Step-by-step guide to get Malaysia Digital Nomad Visa
To apply for a digital nomad visa in Malaysia, you must visit the Rantau Digital Nomad Pass website. You have to follow the following steps:
- Prepare a checklist of documents.
- Register on the De Rantau Digital Nomad Pass website. You will need a personal email address to register. You will then receive a verification code to enter. Once logged in, you will need to select whether you are applying as a foreigner or a local resident.
- Select your occupation. You have to choose between two options: digital freelancer/independent contractor or remote worker. If you work remotely, without a company or location, choose the first option. You will choose the second option if you work for a company with flexible working conditions.
- Fill out the application form.
- Upload the required documents. All documents must be in English. All pages of any document must be uploaded as a single file. They must also be in PDF format and 20MB in size.
- Pay the registration fee. The registration fee is $225. In addition, you will have to pay an additional fee of $112, for each accompanying dependent.
- Wait for confirmation. The processing time is about four weeks. You will receive a decision on your visa application by email.
